Daily Marine & Weather Report

Thursday, March 26, 2026 | 06:02 AM EST

Good morning. Today across the East Coast, a shifting high-pressure system is moving offshore, making way for an approaching low-pressure center that will bring increasing winds and building seas throughout the day. Residents from the Mid-Atlantic through New England can expect southern winds to strengthen to 15 to 20 knots, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots by this afternoon. A Small Craft Advisory is currently in effect for much of the New Jersey and New York coastal waters as conditions become increasingly choppy.

Offshore buoy data indicates a primary southern swell currently running at 5 feet with a 6-second period, while a secondary easterly energy persists at 2 feet with a longer 9-second period. In the southern regions, such as near Wrightsville Beach, the water remains cooler at 57°F with a dominant wave coming from 114° at approximately 1.8 feet. Overall, average wave sizes along the exposed coastline are expected to build from 3 feet this morning to 5 or 7 feet by tonight as the frontal system nears.

Tidal patterns for the day show a high tide occurring at 9:57 AM with a height of 4.62 feet, followed by a low tide at 4:18 PM. A second high tide will return later tonight around 10:15 PM, reaching 5.23 feet. Mariners should prepare for visibility to decrease after midnight as showers and patchy fog move into the region, potentially reducing sightlines to one nautical mile or less.
