Overall: Around 2�3 ft, with most waves in the waist-high range. A typical surfer should see waves around waist to occasionally chest high, depending on the peak.
Longer-period swell: ESE around 1 ft at 12�13 seconds. This is the cleaner component and may produce occasional better-shaped waves.
Short-period energy: South wind-wave energy around 2�3 ft, generally 5�9 seconds, adding texture and chop.
Direction: The dominant offshore buoy energy is generally from the SE to S, with the longer-period component from ESE. Conditions should be modest but rideable at exposed breaks.

Mostly sunny and warm, with temperatures near the low 80s. Southwest winds are around 5 mph and may increase this afternoon. There is a 20% chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms after 3 PM. Watch for locally stronger winds and rapidly changing conditions near thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Sunny, high near 82�F. West winds 5�10 kt, becoming stronger during the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft, with SE swell near 2 ft at 11 seconds and a small NW component.

Data note: CDIP Station 209 (Barnegat) corresponds with NOAA/NDBC buoy 44091. The latest available buoy observations show approximately 3 ft seas, with an ESE swell component near 1 ft at about 12�13 seconds and stronger short-period S wind-wave energy.
